The course is aimed at enabling students to understand the nature, target and basic principles of translation. The content of the course is to cover theme preparation, reference search, reading comprehension, appropriate expression in Chinese, proofreading and revision of the translation, with an emphasis on the accurate understanding and grasp of Chinese message and the appropriate expression in foreign language. This course aims to make students understand the nature and basic principles of translation and have a good command of the skills of translating Chinese into French through plenty of practice, such asthemes preparation, information searching, reading and digesting, accurately processing and understanding, checking and proofreading. The students are expected to be familiar with the language features of Chinese politics, economy, and culture, and to translating about 30 articles in different topics and genres. The rendition is supposed to be accurate, fluent, and easy to understand. Through large amount of translation practice, the students are expected to know the characteristics and rules in C-F translation and can finish translating 500-550 words per hour.
