Summer Program of “Experiencing Chinese Language and Culture”
Chinese is one of the most beautiful languages in the world, and China has a long history and culture. If you want to experience Chinese culture while studying Chinese language, please take part in our Summer Program of “Experiencing Chinese Language and Culture”. In the program, you can not only learn Chinese but also travel in China. You will be study Chinese in the morning while in the afternoon you will participate in the colorful activities of Chinese culture. We will show you around the Forbidden City to experience an emperor’s life. Our senior tea art teachers will teach you how to perform Gongfu tea ceremony. Our calligraphers will teach you how to write Chinese characters with a writing brush. Our Gongfu masters will teach you Chinese Gongfu. Our chefs will teach you Chinese cuisine. At the end of the program, you will become a China Hand who can not only speak Chinese but also understand Chinese culture!
I. Highlights
1. Indoor classes to experience culture are given at the newly decorated culture experience center which is graceful and comfortable.
2. Teachers or lecturers come from Beijing Language and Culture University and they are famous teachers from the cultural circles, so that the quality of teaching is guaranteed.
3. Teaching assistants will come and help when you come across difficulties so that a successful and comfortable study tour is ensured.
II. Course design:
(I) Culture Study Tour (for beginners)
1. Language courses: Introductory Chinese, Communication Activities.
2. Culture exploration: Indoor activities such as Tea Art, Calligraphy, Gongfu, Culinary Art and outdoor activities such as visiting the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the 798 Art District. (According to students’ respective need, explanations in English, French, Korean, Japanese, and Russian are provided)
(II) Culture Study Tour (Elementary) (500 words grasped)
1. Language courses: Introductory Chinese, Communication Activities.
2. Culture exploration: Indoor activities such as Tea Art, Calligraphy, Gongfu, Culinary Art and outdoor activities such as visiting the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the 798 Art District.(According to students’ respective need, explanations in English, French, Korean, Japanese, and Russian are provided)
(III) Culture Study Tour (Intermediate) (1000 words grasped)
1. Language courses: Intermediate Chinese, Communication Activities.
2. Culture exploration: Indoor activities such as Tea Art, Calligraphy, Gongfu, Culinary Art and outdoor activities such as visiting the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the 798 Art District. (Explanations in Chinese only)
III. Teaching Hours
The program will last for 4 weeks. There are 25 teaching periods per week. There are 50 minutes per teaching period. Classes will be given from Monday through Friday. Day tours will be on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
9:00—12:00 Chinese Language Learning
14:00—16:00 Chinese Culture Experiencing
IV. Tuition Fee: ¥6,000 Yuan per capita
V. Class Time
Jul. 16-Aug. 12, 2015. (Deadline for sign-up: Jun. 19, 2015).
VI. Minimum of the Class
Each class needs to have at least 15 students. Otherwise, they will be transferred to other classes.
