This course is divided into two stages: the junior will focus on the Spanish-Chinese translation and the senior will focus on the Chinese-Spanish translation. Although the course will introduce some translation theories, methods and techniques, emphasis is still on translation practice. In class, teachers will give students some translation tasks and help them solve the problem in process of translation. Home translation assignments will be given, which teachers will edit and comment on. The final goal is to enhance students’ translation and application ability between the two languages.

This course teaches interpretation skills and approaches, aiming at developing students’ basic competence in interpretation between the two languages. Teaching and practice materials will be realistic and authentic, as well as of a variety of topics. It adopts mainly the mode of simulated interpretation situations, from common reception of foreign guests to interpreting of special subjects.   Materials will be taught and practiced progressively according to students’ performance. Apart from classroom activities, students will be assigned real interpreting tasks when there are opportunities available.
