International students whose Chinese proficiency has reached HSK level 4 or above (including level 4) of the "Chinese Language Proficiency Standards for Speakers of Other Languages".

IV. Training Objectives and Specifications

(I) Training Objectives

This major aims to cultivate senior professional talents who have a solid foundation of Chinese language, humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, master the basic theories and skills of the communication specialty, have a strong international vision and the ability to use modern media technology, are full of innovation spirit and social responsibility, and are competent for the work related to news communication at home and abroad or the foreign cultural exchange in domestic and foreign cultural communication institutions.

(II) Training Specification

1. Have solid basic knowledge of Chinese language, have reached a high level in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation, and be able to proficiently use Chinese to obtain professional information and conduct written and oral business communication.

2. Be familiar with the history and current situation of Chinese and foreign news communication and the new trend of media integration.

3. Have a solid foundation of humanities and social sciences and certain basic knowledge of natural sciences.

4. Proficient in news reporting, writing, editing skills, with all-media literacy and skills.

5. With international vision and cross-cultural communication ability, and further study of language and professional skills.

6. With correct values and good professional ethics, strong learning ability, organizational management ability, innovation ability and team spirit, able to effectively conduct team cooperation in the work.

V. Basic Framework of the Training Programme

(I) Course Credits for Graduation: 160 credits, including 80 credits for Discipline Basic, 30 credits for Elementary Courses, 22 credits for Compulsory Course, 18 credits for  Elective, 2 points for General Elective Course, 4 credits for Dissertation and 4 credits for Internship.

(II) Total Class Hours: 2,512 class hours.

(Ⅲ) Total Number of Teaching Weeks: 120 weeks.

(IV) Dissertation (Graduation Design): 6 weeks, 4 credits.

(V) Time Arrangement of Dissertation (Graduation Design): from the end of the seventh semester to the end of May of the eighth semester.

VII. Main Practice and Time Arrangement

Internship: 4 weeks, 4 credits, scheduled on the seventh semester

Dissertation (Graduation Design): 6 weeks, 4 credits, scheduled for the eighth semester

VIII. Graduation Requirements

Students with formal status who have passed the examinations/assessments results of the courses studied and obtained the credits stipulated in the cultivation plan within the prescribed school system will be granted graduation and a diploma will be issued.

IX. Award of Certificate or Degree

Bachelor of Arts degree will be awarded to those who pass the Dissertation (Graduation Design) defense with 4 credits.
