Application Guide for Self-funded Undergraduates for International Students of Beijing Language and Culture University


I. Application Eligibility

1. Having high school diploma or equivalent;

2. Age: 18 to 55 years old. If under 18, the applicant must have the consent of school and provide relevant documents such as a notary certificate of guardianship;

3. Non-Chinese citizens holding foreign ordinary passports;

*If both or one parent of the applicant is a Chinese citizen and settled in a foreign country, and the applicant (without Chinese nationality) has a foreign nationality at birth, should have held a valid foreign passport or foreign nationality certificate for at least 4 years and have a record of actual residence in a foreign country for at least 2 years within the last 4 years (until April 30 of the enrollment year) (actual residence in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be counted as one year, based on entry and exit stamps).

*Residents of China's mainland, Hong Kong region, Macau region and Taiwan region who have immigrated and acquired foreign nationality should also meet the requirements above when applying for undergraduate studies at BLCU as international students.

II. Application Dates

Majors with * symbol enrollment available in March and September; other majors enrollment available in September.

If enrolled in March 2025, deadline of application: Jan. 12, 2025.

Due to the current popularity of applications consultations and a sharp increase in the number of applicants, relevant departments and colleges have decided to add classes to the following undergraduate majors: Chinese Language, Chinese Language (Economics and Trade), Chinese Language (Chinese-English Bilingual), International Chinese Education, International Economics and Trade, and Translation (English-Chinese Translation, Korean-Chinese Translation).

The space is limited and the application will be closed until the quota is full. It is suggested to make applications as soon as possible.

IV. Application Materials

1. Applicant's passport information page

2. Certificate of high school diploma and academic transcript of all semesters (Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.)

* Prospective diploma recipients must submit original pre-graduation letter issued by their current school to prove the current student status and expected graduation date. Once admitted, applicants must resubmit the graduation certificate and degree certificate before registration. If the documents required cannot be provided on schedule, the admission qualification will be canceled.

3. HSK certificate

4. Letter of Recommendation (written in Chinese or English with no fixed formats. Please let the reference sign in person,and attach valid contact information);

5. The registration fee 800 RMB, which must be paid online by International Student Application System. This expense is non-refundable. 

6. Scan of Emergency Contacts’ valid credentials (Passport, ID card, etc.; if the guarantor is a foreigner in China, their valid visa in China will also be required).

7. Other materials required by corresponding majors.

  

V. Application Procedures

1. Log in the International Student Application System of BLCU, http://apply.blcu.edu.cn, fill out the application information online, and upload all application materials;

2. BLCU will review each applicant’s materials in the system and contact applicants by phone or email. Please make sure that the phone number on the application form works, and the email address is correct;

3. Students will receive admission results via email and the acceptance notice and other materials. Please make sure that the acceptance address on the application form is correct.
